The Fiddler

Title: “The Fiddler”
Medium: Oil on Panel
Dimensions: 12″x12″x1.5″
At a festival in Tennessee this guy was playing a mean fiddle out in the heat of the day. He was cool with his hat on, extreme baggy overalls, and those mountain songs coming from his instrument. I asked if he would mind if I took his picture. He replied “sure go ahead” then later he walked over to me and said “I’m out here in the public so you shouldn’t have to ask me if it’s OK to take my picture – but thanks”, and as he was walking back to his stool, I took another of him and thought what a cool guy.
Q: Ever wonder what the difference between a fiddle and a violin is?
A: About $10,000. That’s a joke.
They say “fiddling” is a “type” of music the same as “classical” is a type however they are played using virtually the same instrument. A violin….or is it a fiddle??
