Every now and again I watch a live tennis match. These gals were just practicing – something they call clinics. None the less it’s fun to watch them in action or in this case – pensively waiting for the ball to come her way.
This is part of a new “action” series I started recently. Before you know it I’ll have joggers, bikers (cyclists) people walking their dogs and such. We live down a long peninsula and the main road is a favorite spot for everyone to do their daily routine.

Title: “Copper and Silver Twist I”
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Dimensions: 40″x30″
I’m still fascinated by the many forms a flat piece of paper can be coaxed into. This silver and copper paper curl was a joy to paint.
This painting sold immediately after showing it, but if you like it, I’m in process with a few others that have metallic silver and copper. I plan to have them ready for our Open Studio Tour November 6, and 7. Hope you can come by and see more of my new work.

Title: “Lost in Reverie”
Medium: Oil on Panel
Dimensions: 12″x12″
Price: $425 USD
One day when visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, a young woman was standing around waiting for her boyfriend and seemed to be lost in the moment. It was a gray misty day outside, but the huge windows let in an abundance of back light. She cast a beautiful clear shadow on the marble floor.

It’s been a bit since I posted to my blog. I’ve been painting up a storm to get ready for the studio visit in Blowing Rock, NC. It’s come and gone and I’m back into the swing of things. Now I’m gearing up for my studio visit in November of this year.
This painting reminds me of American contemporary artist Jeff Koons. He does huge large scale sculptures of stainless steel painted balloon dogs. Heres a link to one at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.
This painting is sold. Please send me an email for more information.

Title: “Knot Red”
Medium: Oil on Panel
Below is a short progress video showing different stages of the painting before it was finished.
I started by creating a paper sculpture. Then it needed some interesting shadows so I placed it inside my still life box and adjusted the lighting. Once I had it where I wanted it, I drew directly on the canvas with paint and brush in burnt umber to get my basic shapes and values. You’ll see a few adjustments were made along the way.
If you have any questions, be sure to leave a comment. Thanks for watching!

Title: “Large Green Twist”
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Dimensions: 40″x30″
This is a large painting compared to what I usually do. It’s been fun switching to something that is 5+ times larger.
I currently have a bunch of large blank canvases, approx. 8 of them that I am using for a studio tour I’ll have in November. On occasion you’ll see me post one of the larger ones.
The green color is vibrant almost glowing with rich shadows and a muted background.
