You can be pretty quiet in a kayak. This blue heron was sleeping on a branch and I was able to get fairly close to him before he open his eyes. Just shortly after he took flight.

There is a small island in front of our house and when the Lake drops – usually in the winter, a small sand bar is revealed. The geese love it here. They squawk as they land and putter on over to the sand bar. There are usually lots of them preening and socializing. Here’s a sunrise with just a few friends.

This painting has a beautiful silver and deep gray frame on it making the dimensions aprox. 10″x16″. Here’s a picture for your review.

2010 Open Studio Pictures

Here are some pictures from our Open Studio in October, 2010. We had such a wonderful time. There were 4 artists in our home. Me (LC Neill), my husband Brian Neill who does fine wood furniture, and Dave and Barbara Ballesty another husband and wife team that are wonderful pottery/ceramic artists. We would like to thank everyone who made it out to see our new work and chat with us. It’s amazing how many new and interesting people we met, albeit in such a short amount of time. Please enjoy these pictures and make sure you get a chance to come by next year!

Goto my facebook page album to get images and descriptions of each photo.

Please email me if you have any questions.
Oh you’ll notice just a few artworks that are not our creations, but they were very difficult to move so they became part of the display.

This was an unbelievable winter morning. The heavy fog was lifting the atmosphere was thick and very pinkish/purple, while the sun had amazing warm colors bursting into the sky. The clouds melded with the fog and masked the sun as it was coming up.

I love the little Cyprus tree at the end of the lot – actually it’s not little at all, it’s more like 40+ feet, but I like the way it stands separate from all the other trees and the house on that lot.

This painting is part of a new series I am doing called “First Light” and represents the water and skies of Lake Norman in North Carolina. This morning was one of my favorites. The clouds were parting to make way for the sun as it came over the horizon.

If you would like to see more of these, I’ll be introducing the original paintings of my “First Light” series at the our Open Studio part of the Lakeside Artists Studio tour – Friday October 15, and Saturday October 16. Please come out and visit us. We are at 388 Stonemarker Road in Mooresville, NC. Here is a map. Bring your friends too. There will be 20 artists participating with everything from paintings, sculptures, jewelry and more. To find out more about this event go to LKNStudios.com . For a complete schedule of my events this fall click here.

I’m sorry this painting is already sold, however if you would like to inquire about a similar one, please send me an email.
